Introduction
The toaster is for common household use. The price of a toaster can range from $30 to almost $500 dollars. A toaster is user-friendly and easy to use. There are two types of toasters: a pop-up toaster and a countertop toaster oven. A toaster can be used for any type of meal you desire, from breakfast to lunch. One of the countries that use the most toasters is the U.S.A.

The history of the toaster goes all the way back to the 1890s. The inventor of the first electric toaster is Alan MacMasters(Hagley, pg.1). Alan MacMasters was a scientist and inventor. It was called the “eclipse toaster” probably due to the inherent presence of heat touching the slice which may be in reference to the astronomical eclipse. The minor dilemma at the time was the toaster wasn’t able to fully toast sliced bread but instead one side of the slice of bread, so you manually had to turn it over with your hand.

There were technological issues for the early toasters when it was time for it to develop a heating element that would be able to sustain repeated high temperatures. In 1905 Albert Marsh created “Nichrome,” a filament wire with an alloy of nickel and chromium that was safe and durable when heated; so it was durable and easy to work with when creating the toaster.
By the time of the early 1900s, the Copeman Electric Stove Company introduced the “toaster that turns toast,” a device that took away the hassle of having to manually turn over the bread halfway through cooking. In 1919, a Minnesota mechanic named Charles Strite created a convenient toaster designed for restaurants. In 1921, he received a reward chart for the automatic pop-up toaster. This toaster was able to automatically pop up toast on its own once done heating up, withdrawing the need entirely to have to touch the bread during its heating up process.

Function:( How it operates)
- You would drop a piece of bread into the slot.
- You would then plug in the toaster and watch the bread. (DON’T PUT ANY METAL NEAR THE TOASTER)
- When the bread became dark enough, you would unplug the toaster.
- Then you would tip the toaster upside down to get the toast out!

Reflection
The subject of this paper is a toaster. The reason I chose a toaster was due to the fact of how common it is for many people to use it and many can relate to the experience of using it. The audience that I wanted to reach out to is everyone. Home appliances are one of the most bought items in the U.S. It is an easy-to-use and manageable device. Although I myself don’t own a toaster I own a toaster oven, which will be discussed in this theoretical description. I wanted to reach out to people and inform them how a toaster came to be. Without the invention of a toaster, a toaster oven wouldn’t have existed.
The purpose of this document is to inform those who don’t know who are the inventors of one of the many daily necessities we use. When thinking of products for the food we buy, we should be at least somewhat concerned about who had the ideas for their usage and why/how they were created. For almost 3 million years, humans have been creating ideas and inventions to innovate and change the world one step at a time. We have revolutionized and grown as a society and now have more technological usage, but do we ever stop and think “ who invented this?”
